So What Is This Fab Work You Do That You Love So Much?

When a friend explained to me that it is not clear what I do on my Instagram page, I decided to shoot a quick Reel to explain.

And sometimes the clearest clarity (ahem) comes out of unplanned and unscripted moments. I simply spoke from the heart and explained what I do.

I posted it on my Youtube channel, which you can check out here.

The video explains how my business vibe is all about improving our quality of life, using digital education and starting a business as one part of the process.

What do you offer?

What work do you do?

How do you help?

In what way do you add value to the world?

These are the kind of questions I think about:

I promote learning how to start an online business as a way of improving your quality of life.

So – you promote learning how to start an online business as a way of improving your quality of life?

How?

It starts with a need for you to want to change or grow or try something different.

Step 1

The first step requires that you focus on yourself, which can be a rare thing for some of us.

I remember a time not so long ago when I very rarely considered my needs, or when I rarely planned time around what I wanted to do.

I realised that something had gone wrong when I couldn’t tell people what interested me! Like, at all. I had lost all idea of what I liked, or what I wanted. I was completely out of practice at focusing on myself, and had diluted myself to a point of near loss of any firm identity!

It may sound overly dramatic, but I really felt as though I were existing in a fog of fatigue and personal smallness!

I realised something had to change.

Step 2

Self-focus is followed by self-investment, which is a decision you need to make before making a change and in this case embarking on the learning of new skills.

Once you decide to invest in yourself, you will gradually start to grow in self-confidence. You will have to start stepping out of your comfort zone. As a result of this action, you will start to live a more expansive life; which is what we want.

Starting your own online business can be a way to have more freedom and flexibility in your work. It can be a very personal journey because you can create it around the thing or things that bring you joy. You can create your work around something that you love or something that you are good at.

I know people who have really done well with online businesses –

  • some are affiliate marketers, promoting other people’s products and services,
  • others who have become coaches,
  • some who have decided to focus on designing websites,
  • some who have enjoyed great success selling art, and
  • some who rock the Youtube world.

If you are like me a year or so ago, and you have lost your sense of self to some extent; start with some time spent looking inward, get to know yourself again, and you will find things that make your heart sing again.

You can then combine your existing passions or skills, learn the skills required to start an online business, and send your fabulous idea out into the wide world for people to find and love.

The important part is to decide to start, and then to take action!

Ongoing journey

Starting a business is, well, just the start. In my experience, the journey expands and evolves once you step onto it. I wrote a blog post about the Non-Money Wealth of Running your own Business. You can read it here.

For some reason, Dr Seuss came to mind as I was writing this, and because he is a genius, I include a few pearls below.

Out there things can happen
and frequently do
to people as brainy
and footsy as you.

And then things start to happen,
don’t worry. Don’t stew.
Just go right along.
You’ll start happening too.

OH!
THE PLACES YOU’LL GO!

Dr Seuss

My self-care has increased, my self-focus has grown and my self-investment continues to bear fruit.

I am living a more fulfilled life. I feel more inspired, and my creativity has reawoken.

Has it all been smooth sailing? No. Focusing on yourself, means you get to know yourself, the light and shadow. It means you discover your stories and blocks and limiting beliefs. It can be a lonely place to be.

I’m afraid that sometimes
you’ll play lonely games too.
Games you can’t win
’cause you’ll play against you.

Dr Seuss

But this is why we need a supportive community on this journey of transformation and evolution. Currently, I cannot recommend the Mentors community enough. Through being a part of this community I have learnt so much more than a course can teach. I have made friends and met mentors and received help and offered advice to others.

Human connection in a community is something gold to behold.

I wrote a blog post about some of the community challenges in which I have taken part – This Is How Mentors Challenges Are Supporting My Personal Evolution. You can read it here.

In all cases, community involvement is what made them so powerful and transformational.

By Me

In time I plan to build my own simple beautiful community for those who want some support and accountability as they decide to make shifts in the way they live.

I plan on creating courses for those wanting to delve a bit deeper into things like:

  • creating a lifestyle you love
  • choosing simplicity
  • Minimalism and Stoicism as guiding life philosophies
  • the benefits of getting into nature
  • meditation, mindfulness and manifestation
  • the need for rest
  • getting online, simply

I plan on supporting others with a desire to move and grow and learn and hit refresh in their lives.

We grow as we go along a path. We do not always know how it will turn and curve, but we stick with it, and hang on for the ride, of a lifetime!

I hope in time you will join me.

Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing, there is a field. I’ll meet you there.

For You

So once you have taken some time for self-focus and made the decision to back yourself and invest in yourself, take a moment to celebrate.

This is the first giant leap.

Once you step onto the path, it WILL begin to unfold, and you will begin to move in a direction. Some days…

Youll be on your way upYoull be seeing great sights!

Youll join the high fliers who soar to high heights.”

Dr. Seuss

You will be in motion again. You will be learning and growing and taking responsibility for your own life. It is an empowering decision. The prospect of change can be daunting too. But it is also very hope-filled decision.

And – if you ever feel selfish for wanting more out of your life, let me just say in caps that IT IS NOT SELFISH TO FOCUS ON YOURSELF AND WANT MORE!

Be gone limiting belief!

  • Your dreams matter.
  • Time for you matters.
  • Your ideas matter.
  • Your work matters.
  • You matter.

As well as the simple importance of prioritising and taking care of yourself, it will also allow you to take better care of others.

There are a lot of people in our world.

And some of those people need that special gift that only you have.
