I spent a number of years revelling in the dark cold wintery Northern hemisphere Christmas time – which is one of my favourite times of the year. I love the lights, the warm drinks, the cold and dark and coziness of the season.
And although I grew up in the Southern Hemisphere in a summer Christmas, we still celebrated with traditional English fare and traditions – even sending the only available, wintery robin redbreast Christmas cards.
Now that I am back celebrating a summer Christmas – and I love summer days in the sea, long evenings, and late warm holiday nights – I still look at pics of crackling fires, glistening snow and ruby Holly berries peaking out of dark green foliage, and miss it all.
So here is a little whimsy for me and for those who love the northern hygge-oriented traditions.
