Having just celebrated a birthday, I sat down to think about what I want to achieve in the year ahead.
- What do I want to create this year?
- What do I want to achieve?
- Who do I want to become?
What do I want to create this year?
I want to grow my own business in the business of supporting others to change and improve and grow and learn and create their own value to send out into the world.
I want to be independent. I have only learned relatively later in life that I am the captain of my ship, that I make the decisions that direct my own life, and that only I have the responsibility of creating my life the way I want to live it. That knowledge comes with the power of possibility. It is an exciting and hope-filled discovery. This is why I am creating my own interest-based business.
What do I want to achieve?
I want to be present. I want to focus on one thing at a time. And do it as well as I can in the given context. Whether that is focusing on my children, or one part of my daily work, or my rest time. I want to do one thing at a time.
I want to create a happy home. External forces will come. I may have no control over these. But only I control my reactions to these forces. I always have a choice of how to react. To take a pause and consciously consider how to react.
I want to live in balance. I want to strive and rest. I want to take to heart that the necessary counterweight to striving is rest. And that rest is a vital part of self-care. Busy fast-acting people, like me, battle to pause. We battle to rest. There is always more to do. Striving is good. But rest is the other side.
I want to inspire strangers. I want to create a business that genuinely inspires life-changing action.
I believe that when we learn, we should share that knowledge with others. Whether for the sake of leaving a legacy or for the sake of wishing to improve someone’s life, with our lessons – why die with all our accumulated knowledge inside? It could inspire someone to change their life.
I want to create value that changes someone’s life for the better. I want to “put myself out there” by sharing words and images and videos. I have life experience and have gathered some knowledge along the way that could be valuable for others. If I strive to consider what I send out and to create quality work, I could be sharing that value for someone.
Who do I want to become?
Outside my comfort zone. I want to become increasingly comfortable pushing myself out of my comfort zone. This is where learning and personal growth happens.
I want to learn so much, all the time, and increase my knowledge of business skills and trends.
I want to grow a lot by facing and overcoming challenges and increase my knowledge of myself.
I want to connect with individuals who want to rediscover who they are and who they can be.
I prefer action to theory. I choose not to be political and do not align myself with any particular movement. I believe strongly in treating all individuals with whom I have interactions, decently.
I am aligned with individuals. I want to have more interactions with people who want to learn and grow and create something in their lives that makes life good.
A bold and graceful role model. I want to keep my focus on simplicity and quality with how I spend –
- my time,
- my effort,
- and my money
- I want to consider my words and actions more
- I want to strive to be kind and soft,
- but strong and brave
I want this for myself, and for my observing and growing daughters as they learn how to create their own good lives.
Seems I have lots of work to do (and rest to incorporate) over the year ahead!
Join me on the path of learning and growing and creating value in our world.
